What I hold about you and your child, why I hold it, and who else can see it. The short answer to that last one is nobody.

  1. What I collect

Your name and how to reach you; what you tell me about your child; the questionnaires you and school complete; and, if you go ahead, the assessment results and the report itself.

  2. Why I need it

To answer your enquiry, to carry out an assessment properly, and to write a report you can use. Background from you and from school is part of the assessment — scores on their own are not enough.

  3. Who sees it

Me. Nobody else, unless you ask me to send the report on — to school, to an exam board, to another professional — and you tell me that in writing each time.

  4. How long I keep it

Assessment records are kept securely for six years, as professional guidance requires. Enquiries that do not lead to an appointment are deleted within twelve months.

  5. Where it is kept

Paper records are locked away. Digital records sit on an encrypted device and an encrypted backup, both password-protected, and neither is shared.

  6. Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of everything I hold, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it — except where professional guidance requires me to keep assessment records for the six years above. Email me and I will reply within one month.

  7. Cookies

This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no analytics script following you around. If that changes, this page changes first.

  8. Complaints

If you think I have handled your information badly, tell me first and I will put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
